Spring Soccer

Spring soccer season has arrived full force!  Samuel has done nothing but kick the ball; it's been across the street, up the street, down the street, in all of our neighbor's yards, on the roof and has hit my car quite a few times.  His first game was Saturday and he ran his little butt silly. They lost, but not for Sam's lack of trying!  Keep up the great work, Sam.  We love watching you play your heart out!

Celia gets a new toy

Last week we borrowed a walker from John Paul's mom's house and Celia went to town! She figured out how scoot backwards; we like to say that Celia "got her crawdad on."  Anyway, she loved it so much that Oma and Opa got her a brand new one! This was her first sit-down with her new bright, loud, plastic, toy.  The things we do for our children!  Just look at that face!

bowed little heads

I don't even know what these sweet little flowers are called, but I think they are lovely! I found these sweeties while pilfering through my neighbor's spring garden. I love their subtle color and their elegant grace.  They make my heart smile!

In from Alexandria

So, my dearest friend, Mary, surprised me yesterday.  She and her husband, Eric, came to visit. Eric is home from Afghanistan and the two of them are planning their annual anniversary trip in May. This year they are traveling to Italy.  Thanks for coming to see me.  Love you, M!

Mulch Day

During this spring break, we were so lucky to have delightful warm weather.  This photo shows a grinning worker nearly finished laying the mulch.  I'm not sure if it is a nearing the end smile or an "I love my wife" smile.  I like to think it's definitely the latter!  Ha ha.

Gutterman Eyes!

So, 2008 has really been a good year!  It's only April and already so many unbelievable moments have been given to me!  Yesterday I made a quick 3 hour drive to Louisville to meet my birth father and family!  WOW.  I knew where my nose came from (Thanks, Meg!) and now I know that my eyes aren't alone in this world!  This is my birth father, John, and my brother, Jonny.  Don't we look like a fantastic trio?  Sam needs to join in this crowd, too, because he definitely has those Gutterman eyes.

I had a wonderful time meeting more of my immediate family. We cooked a massive amount of spaghetti with a banging sauce, drank a whole lot of red wine, laughed, cried and just reveled in the moments. I'm so glad that from now on neither of my children will have to wonder where they came from and who they might look like in this crazy, crazy world.

Peace and love to all of the Guttermans!  Thanks for making room for one more!  xx

April Fool's

These are some of pics I took on a walk around town.  I just love experiencing all of the fresh blooms and new spring colors.  It means summer is on its way and school is nearing its annual end!  Yippee!
